Join the Georgia Asian American Community Archive Initiative (GAACAI) on Saturday, March 22nd at the Midtown Goat Farm Arts Center for an evening of storytelling and art making through the lens of reproductive justice. We invite you to gather with us at Gyun Hur’s Our mothers, our water, our peace – an art installation memorializing the love and resilience of Atlanta’s Asian American communities in response to the 2021 Atlanta spa shootings.

This workshop explores the importance of archives and community history in telling our personal stories about making Atlanta home and help you create your own zine. The event is free and materials are provided. Participants are welcome to bring any personal items they’d like to include in their zines – scans of family photos or letters, keepsakes, etc. Anyone interested in learning about the experiences of Asian Americans, the history of Atlanta, or reproductive justice is welcome to attend.

A special music performance by Sister Sai will take place.

Workshop Facilitators: 
Shromona Mandal is a PhD student in the Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Emory University. They volunteer with the Andolan Archive Project and are a collaborator with a Youth Peer Support Group for Raksha.

Gautham Reddy is a librarian and historian at Emory University. He is a founding member and archivist with the Georgia Asian American Community Archive Initiative (GAACAI), dedicated to preserving and honoring the history of Asian American communities in Atlanta.
