Volley is a sound activated, interactive animation that will explore human-animal interface: interspecies communication; animals as totems and deities in early human cultures; anthropomorphism; and the ‘uncanny valley’ wherein human-created beings, whether animated, robotic, or otherwise, hover in the disturbing zone between real and imagined.

This animation will be activated by the sound of the audience’s applause. In order for the animation to play, clapping must continue, once it ceases the visuals stop. The participation with the audience is key. They must give in order to receive, yet, if something appears slightly questionable to be applauding, they must decide to continue to partake or withdrawal, knowing that they could be equally judged if their interest overrides their ideology.
