By Dorothy O'Connor
Dorothy O’Connor creates immersive installations that transform everyday environments into moments of wonder and reflection. For Small Moments of Happiness, Flux Projects will present Flock of Birds, a temporary installation of handcrafted blue birds suspended along the Peachtree corridor in Midtown Atlanta.
Inspired by the collective movement of bird murmurations, the installation will appear as if a flock has just taken flight from the trees above. Constructed from paper and weatherproofed for outdoor display, the birds will carry small pieces of natural ephemera as they travel from tree to tree. The work invites passersby to slow down, look upward, and experience an unexpected encounter with beauty woven into daily life.
Building on more than a decade of experimentation with bird forms in public space, Flock of Birds reflects the spirit of Small Moments of Happiness by creating fleeting but memorable moments of curiosity, connection, and delight in the public realm.
Small Moments of Happiness
Small Moments of Happiness is a series designed to interrupt daily routines and create shared moments of happiness among friends and strangers. Installations and performances along Peachtree Street from 10th Street to 16th Street will spark curiosity, create space for reflection, and invite us to experience the city and one another with fresh eyes.
